The lawns and courtyards lead to a private walkway to the beach, the only footbridge over the whole Pacific Coast Highway. You can stroll along the boardwalk, or hire a bicycle from the hotel to cycle to the Huntington Beach Pier a bit further along, or to explore nearby nature trails - and in the evening you are allowed to light a fire, for toasting s'mores on the beach.
There are plenty of dining options at the hotel's six restaurants, the newest being Watertable, a stunning dining space with hand-painted tiles, rustic tables and intimate alcoves. Here you can enjoy contemporary American food, along with artisan cocktails and vintage wines, and on Sunday nights there is the classic Southern Supper. For more casual al fresco dining there is Pete's Sunset Grille, built on the site of a former surfboard factory, and featuring dishes inspired by famous surfing destinations around the world.
